can't adjust inventory

We have the Peachtree newly installed and is now inputting all the inventory items. But we want to adjust the beginnin balance, error message was prompt:

Access Denied for file 'D:\peachw~1\INVBETCH\INVCOST.DAT.' You only have read access to this file, no updates allowed


But actually I didn't set any access right and password. The data are put in drive D while the Peachtree is installed in C, is this causing the error?

If you are on a network, you will need to make sure that you have all (administrative level) rights to the Peachw directory.

If you are on a network only one individual can be logged on for the system to allow access to some tasks.

I'm just using a standalone PC as the Peachtree I have is only for single user.

If you are using 2002 or above you can try the data verification tests first. Find them under file, go ahead and run both.

I performed the data verification tests, 2 errors were found and fixed but the problem of can't update beginning bal. still exists.
