I have moved to a new computer after a system crash. I reinstalled V13 from its disk, copied the data files into the folder and added the variables to the OS. I am still getting the Another user message and am blocked on start up of the company. Are there any other files I need to bring over? I can read the old HD so I can retreive any files (so far) if needed.

You did not list the Windows version on the new Computer.

Go the Windows RUN line (WinKey + R) and type CONFIG.NT. If prompted use NOTEPAD to open this file. Scroll to the last line and change the value from 40 to 199 (FILES = 199). Save the change.

Next add two Windows System Environmental Variables.

OVERLAY_HEAP = 1
PC3ID = CO

rick,

I had made the changes you listed. I double checked both Environmental variables and config.nt. I have deleted and reinstalled from my PCA V13.02 disk. After the reinstall I am able to create a new company without any immediate issues. If I enter the code for my company, I receive the Another user message. This is before I reinstall the company files. Do I need to install the company folders in the PCA directory to have everything come up correctly?
I am surprised that the program reacts this way with a fresh install on a new system.
My system is a relatively new system that came with XP installed. If useful I could print out these variables but I am finding small indentations on the wall about the size of my head.

Open Peachtree and when prompted for the Company ID, press function key "F2" on the key board to see what choices exist. Seemingly, the COMPPV13.D@@ file has been damaged. Look for backups of this same file. They will be labeled COMPBACV13.001 to COMPBACV13.005. Everytime, you add a new Company the program backs up the previous version of the COMPV13.D@@. If applicable you can copy the older or oldest Comp backup file to the actual program name COMPV13.D@@. Next, reindex the CompV13.D@@ file from the Windows CMD line and more so from the Peachtree Classic folder ie. C:\PCA, by typing INDEX COMPV13.D@@ and pressing ENTER. This command will rebuild the Key File COMPV13.K@@.

You can also uninstall Peachtree and then re-installing the program into another folder i.e. PCAV13. Be sure to add the option of installing the Sample Company WD Peachtree. You can then restore your PCA System Files via WD Peachtree, followed by restoring your Company data files. This can also be done from a CMD line using the Peachtree RestoreV13 program file.

Finally, you may need to contract with the host of this website or a qualified Peachtree Certified Consultant to complete the above task.
