Hi all,

I am new to PT 2002 & PT 2003. I am still learning. I have this big problem with PT custom form. On our sales order and invoices, we need three additional fields: color, F.O.B. and size.
Based on PT standard forms, we designed some custom forms with the additional fields. However, we are unable to input data into the newly created fields while we use "task" to create sales order or invoice. PT 2003 has nice feature that we can see "color" and "size" as "attributes." on the screen, but we still cannot print the attributes on the forms.

It seems that even though PT allows users to design their own forms, but custom designed fields cannot be printed. The "custom form" feature in PT seems no "custom form" at all.

Is there any workaround to get custom fields printed? Although we may put "color" and "size" in the description, we really need to have "F.O.B." field printed out.

Thank you for any help.

Does the F.O.B. change, or is it standard? If it's standard, just add a text field to the form. If it's dynamic, you'll have to see if you can do something like enter the F.O.B. in one of the other fields, like the Customer PO field, and change the description accordingly on the invoice. Otherwise, you need to consider generating your invoices outside of Peachtree, then importing them into Peachtree for tracking.

Hello David,

F.O.B does change from time to time. We want the F.O.B field be dynamic data field. We also need all the standard data fields. It would not be an option to use other standard field as F.O.B.

I think my question should be "how does one customize the templates?" Since data entry is done on the templates under "task." Customized template as PT manual described is nothing more than showing or hiding one of the standard fields.

Since you mentioned about bring in data from outside PT, how can it be achieved? What would be the data structure, so to speak?

Thanks for you input.

As you've probably realized, Peachtree is a good place to store transactions, but sometimes it doesn't allow you to generate the intial transaction the way that you need to. Fortuantely, there are several ways to overcome Peachtree's limitations, while leveraging the portions of Peachtree that work well for you.

Several ways to work around your situation include:

Creating an Excel spreadsheet or Access database that interacts with Peachtree through Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) (http://www.acctadv.com/go.mv?id=dde)
Creating an Excel spreadsheet or Access database that interacts with Peachtree through file import/export
Using a solution like PawCOM (http://www.acctadv.com/pawcom)
Hiring a consultant to automate the process for you

In any case, you situation can be simplified so that you can generate the invoice in the format that you want, then hand it off to Peachtree for accounts receivable tracking and cash receipt purposes.
