When I converted from v6.0 to v8.0 I had problems, so Peachtree Technical worked with me for about a hour. My original problem was never solved (when printing payroll, after the 1st check was printed, it would cause an error and the software (and sometimes even the computer) had to be restarted.....so one payroll check at a time!) and now I have a new problem that was not happening prior to this event. At one point the fellow had me uninstall peachtree and then reinstall it. From this point on, when I do payroll checks, the word "Duplicate" appears on the signature line. I use all new check numbers on all checks and always have. Never had this problem before and can't figure out why I have it now! The info under help does not seem to apply to me.

On your payroll printing one check and erroring, one of my clients had the same problem and it was a printer driver problem. We set up the printer with an older driver and it worked fine. Tech Support should be able to give you the driver to use for the printer you have.
It would be interesting to see if that would solve the duplicate check problem, but if not, you could temporarily remove the duplicate check field from the check design. The problem with this is that it is there to protect you from fraudulent check re-printing. Usually this field only prints if there is already a check number assigned to the check in payroll data entry.

Get your printer to print you a configuration page (see printer documentation if you are unsure of how to do this). The config sheet should give you a printer emulation. Set up a driver for the printer that your printer is emulating and select this driver when you print payroll checks.
This should solve your problem of printing one check at a time, and suspect that it may solve your other problem as well.

It sounds like before you converted, you were using a customized form with the "duplicate" field removed. Sometimes, customized forms get goofy after a conversion which might explain the crashing. Try redoing the customized check from a standard check form. The "duplicate" comes from the fact you are pre-assigning check numbers before you click the Print button. If you let PT ask you for a check number when printing, it won't print the word 'duplicate". You can also remove the field using the form designer.
