View Full Version : v. 10 to new release v. 13

I just purchased PCA Release 13 so that I can use it with windows 98. I did a new install on my computer (my computer never had pca 10 for dos installed) I have backed up all my modules for v. 10 and want to restore them in v.13. The manual does not say how to do this, but the sales department at peachtree told me that a conversion would be necessary.
I have tried to restore the files using the restore utility, but the program keeps asking me to insert the disks. after reinserting them 4x, I gave up. (after inserting all backup disks the restore program tells me to start all over again with disk 1).
Any suggestions?

Do you have access to the v10 program disks?

Yes, I have all the program disks and the back-up disks.

You might try to restore the files using the ptrest command in DOS:

1. Exit Peachtree (pca)
2. Go to a DOS prompt
start, programs, ms-dos prompt
3. Type cd\pca (or cd\xxxxxx, where xxxxxx is the name of your program directory for pca)
4. insert disk 1 of your backup
5. type: ptrest a: c:\ /s
and press enter
follow the instructions on the screen
6. type exit
and press enter
when it is through restoring
and you are back at the dos prompt
7. open pca and your company
pca should tell you to convert once you select a module from the main menu

In v13 the ptrest command is now ptrest32 (per Peachtree support)

Sorry, this is only for data created in v13. ptrest would still work for data created in a later version.
