I had to reinstall Windows XP, everything seems to be working fine except when opening and closing Peachtree 2003. I'm now getting this error whenever I open or close Peachtree 2003.

"An error has occurred in the script on this page".

Line: 37
Char: 1
Error 'Ohostapp.appobj' is null or not an object.
Code: 0

URL: file//c:\peachw\pttoday\
Default.htm
Startup.htm
Banner.htm

I've read a few post and one suggestion was to remove and reinstall Peachtree 2003. That sounds like a winner, but I'm a little concerned about the companys data. I've already did the "File, backup and it seemed to have backed up but I want to be sure before I uninstalled it. Was that the correct procedure and should I have backed this data up on the hard drive in another location besides the Peachtree default backup directory? Reason I'm asking is because it seems like if I uninstalled it, it would also include that backup directory. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Even under normal conditions you should back up the data to a location that is secure, meaning something other than just the backup directory of Peachtree. You can back up Peachtree to the backup directory but then always copy that file to another type of media such as zipdisks, CD, tape etc. This will further protect you from loosing your data. Then that media should be taken off site each time as a double protection. Also what ever media you back your data up to do not overwrite the existing backup file. Create new folders for each backup date this way you can always go back to the previous backup file and restore the data incase the most recent data becomes corrupt. And to further protect yourself your backup media should be rotated using a different disk, tape etc. each time. It's redundant but safer. I used to have a different CD for each day of the week. This way my backup's were rotated 5 times a week. Each morning I would grab the CD backup from home and bring it in the office and back up the data to that CD at the end of the day. I would leave the backup file on the harddrive for each day under a different folder but had the backup on the CD also which went home with me. This way there was always another backup file on the harddrive.

As far the as the error messages that you are receiving I am unfamiliar with WinXp so can not offer any advise on this.

Company data (including backups) resides in its own subdirectory, and would be unaffected by a reinstall unless you were to manually delete the Peachw folder.

The error message you are geting seems to be an error from a Java Script.

To protect your data anyway you should make a copy of the backup file and place it somewhere else. In this case since you had aproblem with the operating system you should place the copy of the backup file on other media than the harddrive. This way incase something happens to WinXP and your system is wipped you don't loose your only copy of your backup for Peachtree.
