Is is okay to delete some of the old backups on hardrive to free up some space before installing 2003 upgrade in a new "PATH". Seems like all of those DV backups & weekly backups are unnecessarily taking up lots of space. How do you delete them?Would it be alright to use a "set" of several & "write over" them making sure that you have a couple of sets at all times?

A good approach is to do daily backups to unique files. Keep the dailies for a week or a month, depending on space. Then start weeding old ones out. For example, you might keep one a week for the previous month and one a month for the previous year, and one a year (Dec 31) for the older years. Alternatively you could stick a 60-80 GB disk on a system, they are around $100, and have enough storage for a long time.
