Already checked with Peachtree and they
have no solution and are recommending
that my client send their data to Peachtree
to be fixed.

Thought I'd check here to see if anyone
out there has encountered this. Many
of my clients have made the conversion
without a hitch ... or if there was a hitch
... we were able to fix it and complete
the conversion....so I'm a bit baffled.

This client was happy at 7.0 but had
ordered the pr service and was sold
the upgrade to Peachtree Complete
2003. The conversion process started
but stopped at what appears to be the end of
of the 9 level conversion ... with a message
like... unable to complete conversion ..
backup restored ... find and fix problem
and try again .... basically no details of
what the problem was.

Prior to calling me, their network consultant
had called Peachtree and attempted to
run all of the various integrity checks
recommended by Peachtree. He had
also taken the data and tried the conversion
on different machines (standalone) and
operating systems .... always with exactly the
same error at the same place. Peachtree's
only advice at this point was to send them
the data.

At this point, they felt they were stuck ... but I was
able to get them back to 7.0 and manually
update pr tax tables so that they could
run their 2003 payroll and continue forward
under 7.0

I also tried all the tricks I know on my own
machine with their data.... again with the
same error at the same place.

So far now... they're stable and it's working
fine. We do, however, want to get them
upgraded at some point.

Here's the question ... their data checks
out clean on every integrity test we run...
(including unposting / reposting)
however.... won't complete the conversion
thru the 9 level. Any ideas???

Also curious if it comes down to it....
what experience other users have had
in sending their data in for a fix .... turn
around times, cost, etc.

Thanks.

There must be a latent problem in your v 7 data that the integrity check is not seeing and that is not manifesting itself until the conversion is attempted.

We've seen a few of these this month. They are usually repairable, and we don't charge extra to repair and convert the data at the same time. Turnaround for this kind of situation is usually two days, and there is a flat fee. No charge if we can't fix it.Details here. (http://peachtreeusers.com/datarepair.htm)
