I/O Error in Variable Length Part of....

I have gotten the following error.

"I/O Error in Variable Length Part of Record in file G:\...journal.dat"

Peachtree support tells me i have to do a complete restore.

I did a backup on Friday but worked a very long day on Saturday and all of Monday. There has to be 20 hours of work in Peachtree that I just don't want to recreate.

Is there a way to fix the files???

It sounds like you got a Btrieve error 2 (I/O error). If that is the case, then your file is damaged - most likely a chunk of it got overwritten with garbage - and your only option is to restore from backup.

On the otherhand, if you got a Btrieve error 22 (Data Buffer Length error), it MIGHT be possible to recover the data, depending on the severity of the damage. In this case you will need to send an expert your data and probably will have to pay for repair services (http://peachtreeusers.com/datarepair.htm).
