Our company has used Peachtree for 2000 and 2001 (so far).

We recently upgraded to PT complete 2002. I now see something I didn't before. This version has a Year end wizzard.

We are currently in period 9 of the current fiscal year. We have not performed any (that I know of) year end operations. Is it possible that the previous version (version 7) did it by itself?

What would happen if I changed to the last period of 2000 and ran the wizzard? Do I need to run the wizzard at all?

Thanks

Peachtree has always allowed you to have two years open. This means you can change accounting periods for basically 24 months.

You cannot post to a period outside the 24th period, however. Therefore, you should run the wizard at least once every two years. If you use Payroll and/or print 1099's in Accounts Payable, you should run the Wizard before March 31 (end of 1st quarter) each year to close the Payroll year.

Older versions had two program options under Tasks, System:
Close Payroll Year
Close Fiscal Year

The Wizard takes care of these options for us.
