I am a distributor of packaging materials. I am needing to buy system to do much of the left brain work for my company. Do you recomend a certain program and a check writing program togo along with it that would be compatible with it ? I played around with Quickbooks pro 2001, however you need to buy pre-printed checks for that program. I have been told I could buy Peachtree and a check writing program that will work together. A litle help????
Thanks!

Peachtree Complete Accounting for Windows allows you to use preprinted or multi-purpose (not pre-printed) checks. If you need the routing number printed on the check, then you need a check writing program, too.

PLEASE BE CAREFUL IF YOU CHOOSE TO WRITE YOUR OWN CHECKS INSTEAD OF HAVING PREPRINTED CHECKS MADE UP. WE HAD OUR CHECKING ACCOUNT NBR AND SIGNATOR STOLEN FROM ONE OF THE CHECKS WE SENT OF A VENDOR AND RESULTED IN COUNTERFEIT CHECKS BEING WRITTEN AGAINST OUR ACCOUNT. THE BANK BECAME SUSPIOUS BECAUSE THE CHECKS WERE PRINTED OFF THE COMPUTER AND NOT PREPRINTED. THEY CALLED ME TO CONFIRM THE COLOR OF OUR CHECKS, WHICH WERE DIFFERENT THAN THOSE BEING PRESENTED TO THE BANK. OUR ACCONT WASN'T CHARGED FOR THE COUNTERFEIT CHECKS BUT IT WAS A PAIN MAKING OUT POLICE REPORTS, WORKING WITH THE BANK ON WHICH CHECKS WERE COUNTERFEIT, CLOSING AND OPENING NEW ACCOUNTS, GOING TO COURT, ETC.
GOOD LUCK!!!

Unregistered's caution above doesn't really have to do with using nonpreprinted checks...it has to do with someone fraudulently using your bank account info, regardless of what kind of checks you use.
There is an add-on to Peachtree coming out soon that will allow you to print completed checks on blank, high security check stock. More details soon....

I use a VersaCheck application to print my own checks which are then used with Peachtree. I've had no problems at all with the bank or vendors accepting these checks.
