Automatically Update Accounting Per?

Is there a way to have P'tree automatically change accounting periods on the first day of the month?

No. The idea of having accounting periods is so that you can work in a period until you are ready to move on to the next period. Having the period change automatically would not be consistent with that idea. (E.g., lets change the accounting period to last month. OK. But the accounting period is not the current month, so it automatically gets changed back. Argh! Why did they put in that stupid feature to automatically change the accounting period.)

I used to be frustrated by having to change the account period in Peachtree and not letting you make entries in prior months without changing the accounting period. But I learned to appreciate it when I was working in Quickbooks and made a typo on the date. A September entry was recorded in June with no question asked. Peachtree would not have accepted my typo.

I asked this question because we always forget to change the accounting period on the first day of the month and invariably end up having to go back and fix invoices later.
