restore to empty file

I need to restore a file from a client's backup. I setup an empty file (supplied the company name, address, cash method, and estimated beginning date for transactions) just for the purpose of restoring the backup. The process begins but has been unsucessful with this message "One or more data files in this company's directory belong to a different company or have been copied in to the directory by mistake."

Starting with V8 update 2 Peachtree now associates a different owner with each company you create, so the method you were trying failed because your empty company had a different company from your backup data.

Peachtree's PTB files are actually just ZIP files so you can extract their contents with any zip tool, such as WinZip. However, the entire set of files must be unzipped together - you cannot mix files from two different companies for the reason given above.
