When we try to restore from our back up we find that the data is not there. We are constantly having to reenter data. Does anyone know what could be happening?

We need more information. How are you backing up your data? To what medium (floppy, zip etc)? Which version of PT?

You mention you go thru Explorer to examine the backup file. you should go to peachtree to the restore section in the FILE menue selection to restore peachtree. i do not know if explorer will interpret the data backup file correctly.
we have yet to restore any data to peachtree from backup's. i would hope it works correctly. although i have taken my backup from the office home with me and restored to my system at home so i can create crystal reports from home and the backup seems to restore properly to my system.

1) You need to restore through Peachtree
OR
2) You can rename the backup file from a .ptb extension to a .zip extension. Then, assuming you have winzip or something similar, you can unzip the file through Explorer. Explorer by itself doesn't recognize the .ptb extension - only Peachtree does.
