printing reports question

I have a customer that has 100 employees in their database. She has recently gone to version 8 from version 7. She says that in version 8 she is having problems when printing the payroll register report. The problem is when she pulls up a report whether it be one employee or all employees -- the report takes at least 5 minutes to come up on the screen. She said that this was not a problem in version 7. She has a 8mg video card and 128 MB Ram and a PIII proc. What else could be the problem? She is on a stand alone pc. She states that all of the other reports come up on the screen in a decent time. I need all the insight that I can get.

This is common. I was told by Tech support that 8 is slower than 7--even after upgrading our system--the same as what you have. We've just lived with it but we're not rushing out to get 2002 just yet.

Release 8 changed the way it spolls print jobs.For most printers it will slow up printing but prevent many of the compatibiity issues that ptree had with printers(errors-especially dot matrix printers).Simply change your printer driver to a generic driver(such as an Hp Laserjet 4) and your problems will atleast be reduced.
