View Full Version : Using Database from Different Computers

Hello All,
Using Complete Ver 8. I have 2 computers in the office. I have one data base on the main computer and use the other to look up status on that main PC when customers come in and make inquiries. I have the main computer mapped on the other computer. Memory resourses are getting as low as 35% while running 512M of memory on each machine. The only cure is to reboot the main system. PT is the only program running on each system. I first close all PT files on the 2nd PC, close PT, and shut it down. Then I go to the main PC, close all PT files, close PT. When I try to shut down this machine, it says there are several files open. Yet there are NO programs running on this main PC. Has anyone seen this phantom number of files being open? I have been told by a MS CE that we should upgrade to WIN 200 or XP, that Win98SE has limited diagnostics to find open files or programs that are actually running but DO NOT show up with the "Alt, Ctrl, Del" listing. The MS CE believes that PT is not closing all files on the main PC causing the problem.

Any thoughts or Ideas appreciated.
It is not a major problem, but a major inconvience.

I know you said there were no other programs running on the machine. Nevertheless I would press <Ctrl> <Alt><Delete> to verify that there were no other programs still in memory.
