Using Version 8.0, we had a problem where the program reported that STATUS.dat was bad and would not allow us to exit normally from program. We had to terminate the task using Control/Alt/Delete and the task manager. When we tried to run Peachtree and select the company, an error message appeared saying that this was not a valid company. Now we cannot get back into try integrity checker or anything else. Any ideas?

If you are using NT:

1. Use NT Explorer and highlight the company folder and click properties.
2. Under Security, Permissions, check the box for Replace Permissions on Subdirectories.
3. Make sure the workstation has Full Control. Click OK, which will reset each file so that the workstation has read/write permission.

Also make sure the server is shared with full access.

If you are not using NT:

1. Make sure user/workstation has full access rights.
2. Make sure server is shared with full access.
3. Your version.txt file could be blown. See if you can open sample company without getting the error. If you can, copy the version.txt file over to your company's directory after renaming the version.txt there.
