This error indicates that record 4 of the GENERAL.DAT file has been corrupted and Peachtree can no longer read it. This record contains general information that Peachtree reads when it starts up.

One recourse is to replace the GENERAL.DAT file. If you have a recent backup, you can unzip the PTB file, extract just the GENERAL.DAT file, and substitute it without significant side effects.

If your backup situation is not favorable, you can get the data repaired. More info. about data repair here. (http://peachtreeusers.com/datarepair.htm)

Though Mod 4 errors do indication crupt data, most mod 4 errors have nothing do do with your data. I here the same story every time."I was entering transactions and we had a power surge(or my computer locked up) and when i went back into ptree i got this Mod 4 error. Most of the time, if you went to the server and went into ptree you would nto get this error(which means that it is not data related, it is network related). In most of the other cases, your computer is the only one getting the error(if it is crupt data, all clients in that company will have this problem, not just 1 pc).

If none of the ablove applis to your situation, then restore a backup prior to the error
