change FIFO to Average

My external Auditor required me to change our FIFO costing to Average costing due to a legal requirement. I already have two year's inventory data done with FIFO and now I have to change my costing method to Average. I want to change the costing method for each Inventory item in the maintenance window but the box is disabled.

I tried with the import/export process but found the costing method still uneditable. Further I opened the *.CSV file of the Inventory Item List and changed the Costing method there. But when imported I get an import/export error.

I am using Version 9.

Is there any other way to do so? Your help is greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, Peachtree doesn't allow you to change the costing method. You have to set up a new item, and make the old item inactive or start a new company.
