Fixed Asset Depreciation

I am changing the Fixed Asset Depreciation date from 4/2001 to 9/2001, and the program runs for several hours and does not complete. The depreciation, now, only calculates through 4/2001 and we want it to calculate through 9/2001. The last time it ran for 14 hours. What am I doing wrong?
