View Full Version : Inventory on Balance sheet & Inv. Valuation report DON'T match

I have Complete Accounting 2002. The Balance Sheet for Nov. 30, 2001 shows my inventory assets at -$310.21. This is not correct!!! My Inventory Valuation Report for same date correctly shows inventory balance of $823.34 and shows the correct number of items in inventory. Additional info:

* I set up company in August 2001 and entered beginning balances.
* When I enter orders or purchases it seems to work correctly.

HOW CAN I CORRECT THIS PROBLEM? WHAT MIGHT BE CAUSING THE PROBLEM?

Would really appreciate your help. Thank you

I also have the problem. I have been tracking this for several days and the amount off is different after each inventory transaction.

Try looking at a Cost of Goods report for all your items. Include beginning balance, purchases, sales, inventory adjustments, and ending balances so all transactions to each inventory item are listed. You should be able to see what's being posted to each item and possibly trace bad data from there. Do you use sub-accounts? Sometimes things get posted to subs and reports may include only the control account.

I would load the integrity checks (the system prompts you for a backup so I normally don't mention making a backup). Reindex the jrnlrows, jrnlhdrs, chart, and lineitem. Then do the inventory/journal sync.
