When I was using Peachtree Complete version 6 I frequently printed invoices to a file using Arobat writer. I would use the PDF invoice to email to customers. I upgraded to Version 9 and can no longer print to acrobat writer. I get the message 'Cannot open file.' Peachtree help displayed the following:

Cannot open file '$$$'
This error is because Peachtree Accounting cannot locate certain files. Below are some of the most common resolutions for this error message. If the resolutions outline below fail to correct the situation, call Peachtree Technical Support.

If you cannot open the Status.dat or Options.dat files, the reason could be due to lack of available memory. Try closing all other programs that may be running. Also, refer to the installation guide on how to increase the size of your Swap file.

If you are running Peachtree Accounting from a network, check the network connections. Sometimes re-mapping the drives can resolve the problem.

For other files, check to make sure that the file exists. If not, you may need to reinstall Peachtree Accounting.

None of this seems to apply. The Peachtree program usually shuts down when I try to print to Acrobat Writer. No changes have been made to the computer, network or operating system.

Acrobat writer works with every other program I can print from.

hi,

one of my clients had problems with printing / previewing from paw 9.0. everytime she clicks preview / print paw will hang. i managed to solve that problem using the following steps:

if you have customised reports / forms, move it to a temp file not under the peachw directory.

delete the peachw\reports\ folder

uninstal peachtree

restart your computer

instal peachtree back

copy your customised reports and forms back, one by one until it hangs. when it hangs, you will need to redo the whole process again - backup and restore does not work for damaged reports. for reports, you will need to use winzip to move it from the zip files.

i have also noted some bugs in peachtree 9.0 reports, one which i am trying to pin-point is the customer ageing balance. the totals does not reconcile between periods. i.e. adding up opening balance, sales, and receipts will not sum up to closing balance.

best of luck.

I was getting scary looking errors trying to print forms to the Adobe PDF writer, but I found a work around.

What you do is make sure that whatever you print goes to the exact same folder as your data for that company. You can call it anything you want, and once the file is created you can move it anywhere you want. This avoids the errors.

I just wanted to agree with julieitg. I had the very same problem and it was corrected when I saved to the correct folder.;)

I recently switched to a simple tool for printing reports to PDF called pdfmailer. It was a lot cheaper than acrobat (something like $50)and simpler to use. I bought it on-line. I think the website was www.pdfmailer.com The product opens your email so you can send the file right away, but I usually just drag the file to disk and close the email instead.

Hope this helps, Derin.
