I wonder if anyone has this same problem. We have been using Peachtree Complete since 1997 and for the most part have adapted our system well to our business. But with one major complication. We sell alot of non-stock items, ones that change often and all have different costs and prices. At first we just set up one inventory item for non stock items and changed the description, cost an price for each new invoice. Well, after we ran the "invoice register" and "cost of goods sold" journals that first day we noticed that the prices were okay on each invoice but the cost was way off. The system applied the last cost to all invoices. Needless to say ours costs were way off! The second day using the system we started making a new non-stock inventory item for each odd-ball thing sold starting NS1, NS2 NS3... and so on. We have to keep a list on a sheet of paper so that two people do not use the same non-stock number. Only after we close out the year can we go back and start over with the numbers, but by then we may have thousands of different non-stock items set up on our inventory! We have been doing it that way since 1997 and, frankly, its getting old. I have written Peachtree asking for an update on upcoming versions that would have a place when entering invoices to change costs "on-the-fly" the same way you can make prices whatever you want, and have that cost be tied to THAT invoice and not the inventory item itself. Our old UNIX-based system before Peachtree did it that way so I know it can be done, and that system was designed 10-years ago. Surely we are not the only company selling non-stock items. Does anyone have a better way than setting up a new item for each sale? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have exactly the same issue. I'm just changing over to Peachtree Compelte. I have been using an archaic software program prior to now, but it at least gave me the capability to change costs "on the fly" at the invoice level.
I'm working on several potention solutions in Peachtree and will let you know if I come up with anything brilliant.
Let me know if you come up with any great ideas.

Thanks,
Carmen.
