I used an older version of Peachtree software and was trying to backup the company data to be restored in Peachtree Complete Accounting 2004.

In the older version, this is what I get from help->About PT Accounting:

Peachtree Office Accounting
Version 1.1 Batch 02
Copyright @1997-1998 Peachtree Software Inc.
Build 43

I backed up the company data from the older version by accessing File->Backup. It generated a .ptb file about the size of 10mb.

Everything seemed fine at this point until I tried to restore this file in Peachtree Complete Accounting 2004. I already created a new company with no data entered. I went to File->Restore, and in Location I navigated to the .ptb file generated from the older version PT. When I clicked next, the error message tells me "The file you have selected is not a valid Peachtree backup file. Please select another file."

I tried to backup a few times from the older version but still it doesn't work in Peachtree Complete Accounting 2004. I can not figure out what is wrong with the .ptb file I have. What can I do now? Only other thing is that the .ptb file is on the network, it is stored on another computer accessed via LAN.

Any help and suggestions are welcome, thanks.

Peachtree Office Accounting is a different product line (that has been discontinued) and files cannot be moved between product lines.

There is an export option in PT Office Accounting. I tried that, I could only export section by section (customer, invoice, inventory etc). Also when I tried to export customer, for some reason it freezes every time it starts compiling the files.

Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that export may not work either. Is there a way to transfer the files to PT Complete Accountign 2004 or convert the .ptb file from PT Office Accounting?

You should check with the moderator of this forum also. They may have done this before.

No moderator has replied to my message, how do I get their attention?

We do provide data conversion services. You can either click the data conversion banner at the top of this page, or click here (http://peachtreeusers.com/conversion.htm). Fill out the form and a data conversion specialist will contact you.

How much will this cost me? I was hoping that I didn't have to convert the data but rather import to the newer version PT software.

Peachtree Office Accounting is a different product line (that has been discontinued) and files cannot be moved between product lines, it would be a conversion.

Certainly the cheapest way is to renter the data. Whether you decide to pay for conversion or do it yourself, you will be much happier with 2004 vs. office acct. It is worth paying for conversion because of the time it will save.
