Converting ptb files to xls files on back up

We use Peachtree Complete Accounting 2003 on a Windows XP Home computer. We are backing up on a Zip 750 disk and try to open the info up in Excel. Tried to update with conversions for Office Standard XP. That did not work. Help!!!

why are you trying to open a peachtree backup in excel?

You must use the Select Import/Export feature on the File menu in Peachtree to create files that can be opened in Excel, or else use the Excel button available on most report screens in Peachtree.
