Does anyone know if you can change the account ID? If not, is there a way to automatically transfer all transactions for an account to a different account? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

There is no way to change your G/L account number and transfer the history to the new number. Your only option is to setup a new G/L account and make a Gen Journal Entry to close out the old account balance to the new account.

If you are talking about customer/vendor/inventory/employee ID's then thats a different story. With PCA v7.0 you can change a customer/vendor/inventory ID and the history with transfer to the new ID. However, this doesn't work for employee ID's.

Thanks for the reply, Kerriberry. Is there any chance that you could give me some direction on the gen. journal entry? Do I just debit the old acount by the balance amount and credit the new account by the same amount? Or is there some sort of account closing/transfering feature I don't know about? I want to change myincome account IDs so I can get them organized for report masking. Thanks for your help.

1. Create the new Income G/L account.
2. Make note of the "ending" balance in the Income account you're wanting to close.
3. Go to Tasks/Gen Journal Entry.
4. Debit the OLD Income acct and credit the new one by the "ending" balance previously noted.
5. After posting this entry, be sure to go back and mark the OLD acct as inactive: Go to Maintain/Chart of Accts, pull up the OLD income account and check the Inactive box.

That should do it!! Let me know if you have anymore questions.
