Year end close and purging

I ran my year end close to add 2003 as the second open year in Peachtree and it worked fine. Then I began my purge of ALL old transactions, inventory items, deleted records, etc. I started this purge on Wednesday, November 20, 2001 and it is still running 8 days later today. The percentage complete on the monitor keeps changing as though it is purging but once it gets to 100% it starts over again. It has done this at least once each day as though it is in some perpetual loop. We have been doing all orders, PO's, checks manually for the last week. I understand that file size, processor speed, etc. all play a part in determining how long this process takes, but 8 days is ridiculous.

I need HELP ASAP please.

I believe your loop traveled to me in CT. How did you resolve this issue? I crashed on first try to purge overnight and have been in for almost twelve hours on this second try. Pls advise, thanks.
