We are receiving this error in Peachtree 2002 when we attempt to scroll in quotes. Once this error pops up, we are not able to scroll any further. We have to close Peachtree out before we are able to do anything. We are running this via a network with four clients connected to the program. Any insight into this error would be most helpful.

Thanks!

If you are getting Btrieve error 2 (I/O error) then one of your journal files has serious damage and Btrieve is not able to read anything beyond where the damage occurs. The chance of this kind of corruption is much more likely if you are running on a network - network hardware problems or a badly fragmented server can cause holes to get blown in your data.

The standard solution is to restore from your latest backup and reenter everything from that point forward.

Another alternative is to get the data repaired. (http://peachtreeusers.com/datarepair.htm)

Thank you for your reply. This is run on a network like you mentioned. And unfortunately their "server" is a PC running 98SE. Apparently the problem has corrected itself, since they are not getting this error today. I will have them at the least run a scandisk on the server computer to see if the drive has been fragmented (which I suspect it has been). Thanks!
