We are using multiuser version 7 of Peatchtree Complete Accounting. Last week, one user was trying to change accounting period while other users were still in the program. After everyone exited the system, we still could not change the accounting period. We got a warning message that indicated the accounting period was changed to another future period because there's unposted journal entries. We are not using batch mode so there is actually no unposted journal entries in the future periods. Does anyone know how to correct this problem?

This is a very common error and quite simple to fix.
Go to Maintain, Company Information and change your posting method to "Batch". Next, go to Tasks, System, Post and post all journals. Go back to Maintain, Company Information and change your posting method back to real time. You should now be able to change accounting periods.
I followed the instructions on the previous post (for changing the posting method) and I received the same error I did while I was trying to change my accounting period. Any other suggestions?
There is no one on the network activly using Peachtree.

Have you rebooted your network recently? Sometimes, Peachtree and other similar type programs (Act!) get confused and do not release all the individual user holds on the system when the program is closed. Rebooting usually solves the problem.
If your problem is more complex, you can use the method suggested by Diane Koers, but instead of doing the Post, you first want to Unpost everything and then Post. Be warned-- this could take a while depending upon how much data is in the system.
Thanks,
I did re-boot and was able to change the settings. This seems like a very tedious process though!
Thanks for your reply.

Thank You! We were having the same problem (and it had happened once before) and couldn't find the "problem child". I followed your instructions and only had to repost the Sales Journal. Was able to change the accounting period.
