Hi,
I am building a new server for a client that is using Peachtree.
How do I correctly move the database to the new server?
I installed PT on the server then on all client machines. I mapped a drive on the clinet machines to the new server.
Thanks in advance,
Eric

This depends on which version you are talking about. If it is 2004 or 2005, simply restoring the backup from the old computer will create a copy of that company on the new computer. You SHOULD NOT RUN PEACHTREE ON THE SERVER.

What do you mean by "NOT Running on the server"?
Don't you have to load the program on the server and restore the company then share the folder so the client machines can map a drive to the database?

If it is a true server and not peer to peer, only the data should be on the server. Each workstation should run the program, and share the data that is on the server.

This is a Win2003 Server. I was duplicating the original setup which I didn't configure. This is a new version (2004) of PT. In order for me to restore the company and place the data on the server don't I need to have the PT software loaded on the server?
I assume the correct procedure is to create a backup of the company and then restore the backup on the new server.
Thanks for your help,
Eric

You can restore from a workstation. Create a folder on the server and map a network drive, so you have something like P:\Peachtree. Then edit the PCW**.INI file and enter this path as the datapath.
Then when you do the restore from the workstation, it will know where to put it.
