We are planning setting up a PC network of 6 pc's, and 1 iMac.

I am a Mac computer user, and have been waiting for Peachtree to come out with a Mac version. I realize this will probably not happen, even though PT Complete is a direct descendant of Insight Accounting for the Mac. I used Insight 10 years ago, and about that time Peachtree bought Insight and promptly cancelled the Mac and ported Insight to the PC to replace their old DOS/Mainframe version. They even taunt us old Mac users by the slogan 'Get the Insight behind your numbers."

What I would like to do is at least be able to use VirtualPC (recently bought by Microsft) to run Peachtree at least on one machine.

Any thoughts or references would be helpful.

I know Peachtree will not support it, but they also told us they don't support using PT on a VPN DSL system, because they sell ePeachtree.

Peachtree V 2.0 did have a Mac version. Sandy, one of the P'tree support people (Dos/windows) supported it. I did run into a customer that used v 8.0 on a Mac using some kind of program to emulate Win95. So I would suspect it would work. There may be some performance issues.

Thanks for your speedy reply. I found the link in the Peachtree for Dummies by Diane Koers, so I thought I would ask my number one question that was not answered in the book. Don't have either VirtualPC [which comes with MS Office Pro] or Peachtree Comp 0x yet.

We are still doing our homework and updating three of our computers - junking two. I'll keep you posted on what we find as we go along. I'm mainly thinking of using the iMac to get data into Excel & then into Filemaker Pro for custom reporting. I don't expect to be doing any serious data entry where interaction speed would be a bigger factor. If its too slow I'll just export on the PC's and then take it to the iMac.

If some one is using one of the Mac Dual G-5's as a server I might rethink the whole idea of getting 2 or 3 new PC's.

By the way the Peachtree v2.0 was practically Insight for the Mac. It [Insight] sold for $95 and was multi-user. This was competing with the Peachtree DOS Accounting, which did not even support a mouse.
