First off I don't need a lecture about backing up. I know I messed up badly.. so with that...

I have lost all of my company information. When I start peachtree the only companys are the demos. The last back up was 2 weeks ago.

a. Where could the information be?
b. What is the file extentions so maybe I can search for it.
c. What could have caused it?

On another note, My Globle date is 3/14/03. I change the date in the globle settings but each time I restart the program it's the same 3/14/03 date.

I am using PeachTree Complete Accounting 8.0
Windows ME
Thank you VERY much

Are you using a network? maybe if you are the system is looking on your local drive for the data instead of the file server. All data files have the extension .dat. go to driveletter:\peachw do a search for all .dat files. you should see your data files in it's own folder. I don't see how they could just dissappear so they should be there. the thing that is getting me is the global date. if the global date is 2003 then it owuld not show any data being on your system being reported by peachtre but the data files should still be so dont panic yet. also the demo company files will not necessarily be in the same folder as your company datafiles so therrfore do not freak out if you do not see them when you go to open an existing company.

That's just it. The folder is gone too!!!!

The date thing has me VERY puzzled too. Could the effect things? Like maybe I forgot to change the globel date and when it closed it lost it?

I am lost!

It makes no sense in my book (although may be beyond my understanding of Peachtree) how the folder can just be "gone" unless someone deleted it. I don't see where a date can just remove a folder of the harddrive.

I really do not have any further suggestions on this one.

Sorry,

Mark

Ok well the first suggestion..

Dat files right?

So if I was to do a search... what I am looking for?

Does windows or PT have like an auto save or temp file that it may have been converted to? If so what would those extrentions be??

Thanks

Start the search from your peachtree data folder

driveletter:\peachw and all sub folders. File name should be entered as *.dat after you get search results eliminate all folders for the demos and see what .dat files are remaining. Those should be your data folders.

Okay I have tons of DAT files.
I did a search and found some to be dated correctly.
I also have tons of FRM files.

I tried to import files but the extentions are wrong...

the Globel Date when I restored my 11.29.01 back up is still 3.14.03

HELP!!!!
