I am trying to move the company data and forms and such to another computer. I copied the company data files by just copying the company folder and I reinstalled peachtree on the new machine so that it would put the special files it puts on the "host" machine like status.dat, etc.

I copied all the .frm files from my current hosting machine's peachw folder to the new one. I am not finding my custom check, invoice, etc., forms, though. Custom reports are there, but checks & invoices, nope. This is not good. :( What am I missing?

I also seem to be having trouble moving fixed assets - it's asking for falimit.dat and probably other files. I copied them and still have the problem. I'm using the "old" fixed assets version with Peachtree Complete 2003 - not the new MAS thing. They're passing me around on fixed assets too - no one supports the blippity blip program.

Yeah, I'm frustrated.

Suggestions? I need to wipe the machine it was on but I can't until I know my data is all save and opening right. I don't want to have to rebuild things again.

Thanks,
Carla

I know it sounds too simplistic, but restore a backup of your data from the old computer choosing forms only. This will give you the custom forms as they are included in the backup.

You might have to call tech support 800-999-9209 for help setting up fixed assets. It was not widely used so not a lot of people are familiar with it. Search this forum also.

Thanks, I'll try it. I didn't know I could restore only forms. hmmm

Fixed assets wasn't widely used?! I remember when they gave us 2003 Complete they warned us to use a special version of fixed assets that they came out with if we'd been using the program. As opposed to installing the MAS program that came with 2003.....

Not sure where to find this in my stuff though. As it was, somehow I could only access the fixed asset data on one machine - the others never. And this machine was my notebook, not my desktop which hosted the data.

UPDATE: I copied falimit.dat from the old machine peachw folder to the folder on the new machine containing the peachtree data. I set it up on the new machine because of space issues with the program on drive c and the data in a folder on drive d called ptdata. This ptdata folder needed the falimit.dat file in it. sigh
