There is a great W-2 1099 program available from ATX that I have used for several years. See details at:

http://www.atxinc.com/products/unlimited_w2_1099.aspx

Data can be directly imported from PeachTree.

Forms can be printed on blank paper. ATX also sells perforated blank paper forms and appropriately sized envelopes to make the process simple.

I've chosen not to update the Peachtree payroll because I can easily enter the updated formulas and, with the ATX program, I can print and e-file if necessary unlimited W-2s and 1099s.
I am not affiliated with ATX. I just use it because I think this particular progam is excellent.

Caveat: ATX sells a very complete tax program that was subject to some criticism last year. The W-2 1099 program is a stand alone program separate from their Total Tax Office, although it is included with the Total Tax Office package.

Is it cheaper to buy this program than it is to buy the tax tables? What is the price?

I followed the link and found the list was $110. I think I should point out that if you bought the tax tables when they first came out the price was $149. Personally, if you are printing w-2s I think you should buy the tax tables. Of course you save $40 bucks, but why not save time and effort by printing out of peachtree? So I think you're wrong this time Lorin (and that just doesn't happen)! Or, I should correct myself, I disagree with your logic in this case!

Although printing to plain paper could save a lot...

hmmm...

Maybe you are still right!

One point that I didn't make explicit: I have many accounting clients that I don't do in Peachtree. Peachtree's W-2 printing simply won't work for their W-2s and 1099s.

Also, I do not have to purchase pre-printed forms.

Plus the suggested program also does all state payroll reports in ready-to-mail format.

I'm happy that you mentioned this because I found out that it also works for the classic product! This is big since classic has been discontinued.
