In order for me to learn what I need to know, please read the following scenario as a consultant for my new company--Natural Neighborhood, an at-home party direct sales company of natural and organic products. I would appreciate knowing what your play-by-play use of Peachtree would be after the party is over and you go home and fire up Peachtree. Okay--let's begin....
Let's say you're a Natural Neighborhood rep. You go to someone's home to consult a party. After you do your presentation, people flock to you with orders, credit cards and checks in hand. You swipe their credit cards and confirm that their checks will clear and do this all on a Nurit 3010 portable device. You go home with a stack of pre-paid orders and checks and credit card receipts. You will deliver their orders to the host within a week or so.
You get home and note that some of the items the customers ordered at the party are in your inventory--yet other items need to be ordered from your vendors. In addition, the host has earned free products for hosting the party. But not all of the products are free. Her order cost more than the amount of credit she earned.
Now you need to record the payments you received for each order. You also wonder when you need to record the transaction fees for the use of your merchant's account and Telecheck services for each credit card and checking transaction you made tonight. Tomorrow you will deposit any checks you received at the bank.
In a few days, the vendors send you the things you ordered along with surplus inventory for future sales.
