View Full Version : PCA v. 13 not printing w-4's correctly
Hi. Our business manager is using Peachtree Classic Accounting version 13. It seems the W-4 form has changed for 2004, and the information is not lining up with the boxes when we print.
I am not familiar with PCA, as I am the technology coordinator. Has anyone else run into this problem? Is there an easy fix? Thank you very much for all your help!

One solution, not necessarily the cheapest, is to buy the tax service for 2005. I have sold it to some of my clients. Call Shannon at 800-999-9209 for a price.

There is no way to edit the W2 you must purchase the tax service or there are several services that will prepare your w2s for you, given the raw data.
My vote is the tax service.

Sorry to be a whiner but, although most functions of PT are very good or better, the annual tax service fee just to reformat the W2's is ludicrous. First complaint is with IRS and USGovernment, why make the form 3/16th of an inch narrower on ech side? Must be part of the Fed economic improvement effort - provide jobs and income (mostly corporate income) to PT. Second complaint is w/ PT. Why not enable the user the ability to reformat simple changes such as W2's!
I spent 1/2 an hour on the phone with tech support yesterday (at something like $3/min), and finally got the guy to tell me where you can manually adjust the form to print lower and slightly to the right. I couldn't get things to line up perfectly (due to the form being narrower), but it's close enough for government work.
In case you're interested, it's under Payroll, Maintenence programs, Maintain Payroll Options, Set Laser Forms Alignment. You can then move the template UP, DOWN, LEFT, or RIGHT by up to 1 inch. Worked well enough for us!

Appreciate the idea. We'd already found that partial solution. As you said, good enough for gevernment work. Unfortunately, the other half suffers from OCD and everything has to be perfect. IMHO, screw the IRS, let them read one letter to the left of their shrunk form and one number to the right and figure out to which "X" box the X applies.
