PROBLEM: (Please help)
We use Windows NT 4.0 and use Citrix to connect remote offices/users.

With Peachtree 2000 there was a workaround that allowed you to run multiple instances of Peachtree on one machine (the server) by directing it to run inside of each persons profile folder. You simply copy and pasted both the bti.ini and pcw80.ini files with some small changes inside the folders.

For some reason with the upgrade the same workaround doesn't work with pcw90.ini. Is there anyone out there who has run into this problem, one user has it open and another tries open and they get an error message saying ....

"Currently, another user has Peachtree open on this computer. Before you or any other user can start Peachtree Accounting, the other user must exit Peachtree Accounting."

Thank you,
PPIE

Has anyone heard anything on how to address this problem, I need to get the program to allow multiple sessions on one machine.

Is there any support out there that can help? I have dealt with Peachtree in the past and was very dissappointed with their customer service. I just need to address this one problem and don't want to get into a year long contract deal.

Situation:
1. Windows NT Terminal Server 4.0 with Citrix Metaframe.
2. Users on the LAN can run it fine, because the program is installed on their machines.
3. When two or more users connect to Citrix and both try to use Peachtree the error occurs. Someone else is using PT, have them exit before trying to run the program, something like that.
4. This problem was solved in Peachtree 8.0 by editing the PCW80.ini and BTI.ini files and placing them in each users Profile folder on the server.
5. Why doesn't the fix work with PCW90.ini and BTI.ini, what else needs to be done?

Thank You...

Did you see the last "Terminal Server" thread in this forum ?

Tara claimed to have solved the issue with that solution. Have you tried it out ?

I'm Pasting her post here just in case.

Hope you get it all right.

TARA wrote in 01-14-2002 at 02:21 PM :

Got windows 2000 server to work with ver. 9

I called peachtree support and they told me that they don't support terminal server at this time, but they faxed me a setup help and it worked. This is what they sent me:

"Peachtree does not officially support NT Terminal Server at this time. This is simply a guide as to how many of our NT Terminal Server customers have set up their network to run peachtree."

"NT Terminal Server is similar to a diskless workstation. It can also be alink to Unix via Citrix (Citrix Systems, Inc.)."

"Usually the workstations do not have local hard or floppy drives. They boot off of the Server. Each user has a directory that not only has the normal user information, but the Windows information as well - such as SYSTEM.INI, WIN.INI, etc."

"For example, the users directory path could be C:\WINNT\PROFILES\USERS[USERNAME\WINDOWS or C:\USERS\%user%, depending on what is set up for each user and where the user home directories are. Directory paths might be slightly different in your environment."

"Release 7 and above-
For Peachtree to run in the NT Terminal Server environment, copy the BTI.INI (Fixed Assets still requires the BTI.INI file) and the PAW70.ini file into the users home directory. Version 8 will use the PCW80.ini file. Version 9 will use the PCW90.ini file. A registry change must be made to change the Home Directory registry entry to be each users home directory."

"To make the registry change, click on Start, then Run. Type Regedit in the Run box. In Regedit, expand the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE entry by clicking on the plus sign. Expand the SOFTWARE entry. Expand the Btrieve Technologies entry. Ecpand the Microkernel Workstation engine entry. Expand the Version 6.15 entry. Select Settings (do not expand Microkernel Interface). Double click the Home Directory entry. Enter the users home directory.

"For example, enter be C:\USERS\%user% or C:\WINNT\PROFILES\USERS[username\WINDOWS. Not doing the above registry change will result in an error 20."

This is what they sent me and the person putting in the server used this and it worked.

I have tried the workaround you and she suggested. I actually used that same one with Peachtree 2000 and it worked great.

But now that we have upgraded to 2002 it doesn't work. I have tried uninstalling then deleting all those files and creating them again, but I can't get it to work.

I don't know what else to do, is there any support out there other than the terrible service you get from Peachtree? I am still searching for the solution, if any of you here, please let me know.

Thanks,
