I have four different warehouse locations for our inventory. I realize that PeachTree does not support multiple warehouse inventory control. However, I am thinking of this as a solution:
Setup inventory for each warehouse naming the parts as WH1_1000, WH2_1000, WH3_1000, WH4_1000 for part number 1000 located in each of the warehouses. Then continue the same naming system for all the other parts in inventory in each warehouse.
Next, setup another inventory account called Sales Inventory. Whenever there is a sale, say from warehose WH3, I would transfer from WH3 to Sales Inventory and then enter the invoice for sale, forcing the software to pull from the Sales Inventory account. At any point in time, the Sales Inventory account will have a zero balance. All the other inventory accounts, ie WH1 and WH2 and WH3 and WH4 will have balances that can be quantified and monitored.
Here's the question: Does anyone see any pitfall in this method, other than the extra step to make an inventory transfer each time there is a sale?
