Hi!

We're using Peachtree 2002. We recently installed the Tax Service Update January 2002. Now we're having trouble with our 401K deductions and State unemployment deductions. When I try to enter a payroll entry, I get a message saying "could not find the 401K ER 02 02 married calculation", and "could not find the MISUI ER '02 married calculation", and likewise for the EE (employee) deductions. The tax update seems to have wiped out the formulas that we painstakingly put in last year. And now when I try to reenter, for example, the 401K formula, after I save it, the formula disappears - so I can't see it anymore. I don't know if the formula is really still there, and just not letting me see it, or if the formula really has not been saved by Peachtree.

We previously were using version 6.0, and maybe I just need to learn a new procedure for entering the 401K calculation for peachtree 2002 - are the procedures different?

I'd be appreciative of any help - we do our payroll weekly, so this is a real pain.

Thanks very much!!!

Adrina

I'm assuming that the 401K deduction formulas, etc. unique to your company were stored in your company tax tables, and not in the global tables. It sounds as though your company tax tables may have been overwritten by the tax table update due to misdirection during installation.
A possible easy solution: First, set up a dummy company in PT, assigning it a unique name so its data is stored separately from your company's data.
Next, restore your most recent backup made before the Tax Table Update install (you do have a recent backup, right?) to the dummy company. Close PT at this point.
Next, locate the file called TAXTABLE.DAT in your company's data subdirectory (NOT THE ONE IN THE \PEACHW DIRECTORY !!), and rename it something like TAXTABLE.OLD.
Next, copy the TAXTABLE.DAT file from the dummy company to your company's data subdirectory to replace the one you just renamed.
At this point, you should be able to see your old formulas by going to File, Payroll Tax Tables, Edit Company. From here you just need to change the last digit in the TAX ID and Tax Name to a "2" for each formula.
Hope this helps ! Good luck.
