View Full Version : Registered Taxtable not found
I just received the 2002 peachtree complete and installed and registered both the program and tax program. Under help the tax program it says that I am registered thru 2002 and need to re-register in 2003.
When doing payroll, no tax tables are found. It keeps on telling me throughout each employee that we are missing FIT and state taxes.
Is anyone else having this same problem?
Does someone have an answer?

I am having the same difficulty. I just recieved my October 2002 Tax update and am still getting the "Unable to locate" error message. The strange thing is it states the file is in the Global table but not in the company table.
I'm open to any sugestions...

I attempted to correct this problem by re-installing Peachtree. Prior to my re-install it would calculate state unemployment and sick time, but nothing else. Now it will calculate the federal taxes, but not the state unemployment and sick time.
Fixed one, got another.
At least the state unemployment is easy to calculate manually here in Texas, but it would like to get things working properly.
If anyone has other sugestions.....

Follow the procedure below to manually load tax tables
Select the Start button on the Windows Task bar and then select Run. In the Command line type Explorer and click the OK button. The Windows Explorer window will display.
Click one time to highlight the PEACHW folder on your C drive (the default directory is PEACHW. It will be PTFIRST for Peachtree First Accounting). In your PEACHW folder there will be a file named TAXTABLE.DAT.
NOTE: If you are on a network, you will need to browse to the Peachw directory on your network drive.
Click one time to highlight TAXTABLE.DAT. From the File menu select Rename. Rename the file from TAXTABLE.DAT to TAXTABLE.OLD.
Now place your Tax Update CD in your CD drive. Right-click on the CD-Rom drive icon on the left side of Windows Explorer. This will display the contents of the CD in the drive. Double-click on the TAXINSTALL folder, then double-click on the TAXFILES folder and you will see a taxtable.dat file on the right side of Windows Explorer.
Click one time to highlight TAXTABLE.DAT on the CD-Rom drive. From the Edit menu select Copy.
On the left side of the Windows Explorer, click one time to highlight the PEACW folder on the C drive (or the folder in which you installed you Peachtree Accounting data files). From the Edit menu select Paste. This will complete the manual loading of the Tax Tables into your Peachtree Accounting Global Tax Tables.

Check your setup of the tax mentioned, you may need to delete and re add.

Thanks for the help

Peachtree's tax service doesn't establish unemployment tax codes. You have to set these up on your own.
These instructions are from the Peachtree Knowledge Center:
"If the company payroll tax tables have already been set up but the SUI was not, follow these steps:
From the File menu, select Payroll Tax Tables, and then choose Edit Company. Peachtree displays the Maintain Company Payroll Tax Tables window.
Enter the Tax ID in the following format **SUI (Where ** is the two letter abbreviation for your state.) (Example: Tax ID = GASUI)
Enter Tax Name ID in the following format **SUI ER XX (Where ** is the two letter abbreviation for your state and XX is the two digit format for the year.)
(Example: Tax Name = GASUI ER 02)
Type the following formula in the Formula box. NOTE: This Formula is an EXAMPLE ONLY. You will need to verify all limits and percents with your State Labor Board. At the end of each line hit Ctrl+j to start a new line.
LIMIT = 8500;
PERCENT = 3.00;
TAXABLE_GROSS = YTD_LIMIT (ADJUSTED_GROSS, LIMIT);
ANSWER = -TAXABLE_GROSS * PERCENT%
Modify the LIMIT and PERCENT to match your company SUI information, and then press the Save button."

Thanks David, I did not notice that it was the SUI that was being referenced. Nice to have a second set of eyes out there.

Thanks, both of you. You have saved me a lot of headache. I hope our posts were able to help JLS, too. I didn't mean to muscle in on his/her thread.
Thanks again.

Tried your method. Still not working.
I entered the formula per your posting. When I went back after testing, I could not view, edit or delete the formula I entered.
I know I am probably wearing you guys out, but does anyone have any other sugestions?

I tend to remember something like this in the Peachtree Knowledge Center but don't have the time to track it down right now. Try a search on company tax tables disappearing.

Thanks Wolf, it looks like clwright might have made a mistake and copied the global taxtable.dat into his company folder instead of Peachw.
clwright,
Go to the Peachtree Knowledge Center and search on answer id 558 to replace your company taxtable.

Thanks guys. My Payroll is working fine now.
I normally avoid the PT knowledge base as every other time I have tried to use it I have left with bruses from banging my head against the proverbial brick wall.
You guys are the best!!

Does anybody have a Georgia company taxtable they can share? I just upgraded to 2003 from version 6.0 and all my formulas (stored in the global) were overwritten. I have a three employee company and I'll walk to China before I pay $180 in extortion for the Peachtree tax service. I've been updating my formulas for ten years and would still be if 6.0 worked in XP...
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

chikamic . . .
You answered my question, too . . . trying to find WHICH files to save to uninstall/reinstall PCW2002 without losing my "personalized" tax tables (child support stuff, etc.)
thanx!
