I get the following error message when I try to start my Peachtre version 6:

"C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application"

My OS is Windows 2000 Professional and I use a Pentium 4 Intele Celeron from which I ran PT for a long time with no problems; whatt hapend was that I deleted some files in root C:\ accidentally and had to subsequently create an emergency rescue disk and start windows. Once I started windows I located the deleted files in C:\ and restored them immediately and all other programs and files are fine except Peachtree. I searched for an autoexec.nt in my computer and could not find it. ANY help would be GREATLY appreciated, thanks in advance.

My guess, and it's only a guess, is that some Peachtree dependancy files were deleted when you did what you did. There is a way, although I don't remember the exact steps because it has been many years since I did this, that you can reinstall Peachtree without losing your data. I think when you install it, you change the path of your company data files to something OTHER than where yours are located. Then once Peachtree is up and running with your "fake" company, you change the data file location in the Utilities to be where your real company data is. By reinstalling, you may get the file you need. However, it may not be a Peachtree file you are missing. If it's a Windows file that's been jeopardized, reinstalling Peachtree will not solve this problem.
