Is there any way to change Item Class?

I have a client that, when their inventory items were imported, classified a number of them as Non-Stock. Is there ANY way to change that. They have since created all of their assemblies, etc. using the non-stock items so I can't delete them and re-enter them as stock items.

I've thought of doing an export of all of their inventory data, reimporting the bad data as Stock Items, then reimporting their data. If what I'm thinking works, the import should fail on each record that is duplicated, thereby replacing the non-stock with stock. Is there another way or better way or is there something I'm missing with my approach.
