HI,
I upgraded from ver 6.0 to Ver 9.02 yesterday.[Win98 SE]
I downloaded IE 5.5sp2 from Microsoft's site prior to upgrade.
My company data converted fine. However when
I click 'my business', I see "loading..." then following message appears
INTERNET EXPLORER SCRIPT ERROR
line 61
Char 5
Error: Unable to retrieve account balance data
[ERROR 438-Object doesn't support this property or method]
Code: 0
URL: File://C:\Peachw\PTToday\business\AcctBals.htm
Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?
yes/no

I am unable to click yes or no and the program freezes and I have to ctr-alt-del to restart my computer. This happens with the 'sample' companies too.

I downloaded the "UPDATE" for Complete from PT site and was prompted "product update does not need to be applied" during install.

Under the security settings in IE5.5, I've 'enabled' all scripting [grrr....] and selected 'disable script debugging' to no avail.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what the problem is??

Thank you in advance.

Very likely Peachtree is incompatible with the IE you downloaded from Microsoft. Instead of using the IE from Microsoft, try to use the IE in the Peachtree install CD. Uninstall Peachtree and downgrade IE first. Then first install IE from the Peachtree CD, finally install Peachtree.

Thank you Jacky for your suggestion.

I was able to resolve my problem in the short term
by setting my 'preferences' not to open
Peachtree Today. But what's the point of
upgrading if you aren't able to use all the features? :-)

I will try your fix soon!

Sincerely,
Deborah Albericci

I agree, but we've no choice. Just to learn how to live with it. Anyway, IE itself is not reliable enough with many fixes necessary. Compatibility is always a big issue when we try to combine things from different companies together. And, when companies try to do things in a "non-standard" way. Why must be IE but not other browsers?

How did you change your preferences? I get the scripting error when I attempt to use any of the Today menu selections. (I'm using Complete 8.0.02.044.) It's very frustrating.

Jim:
I used the instructions below, which I found on the Usenet group.

"To keep Peachtree Today from loading go to the Preferences tab in Peachtree Today & scroll down to
Start Up & uncheck "Display Peachtree today each time this company is loaded"

Hope this helps.

I have a similar situation - I am anxious to know how you resolved this issue...

I had a customer having this problem. I restored their previous version of Internet Explorer and then installed using the one on the Peachtree CD.

Someone in a different forum (I think it was usenet but not sure) also recommended to me to go to Microsoft knowledge base and a search for MDAC. Then I installed the latest MDAC.

On a down note, I had one with script errors (not just in Peachtree but web pages as well) and could not correct it until they had more serious problems were I just re-imaged their computer.

Ahh the love of working on something with a billion parts (windows).
