Just curious if anyone has input on their experience on upgrading from PCA V.13 to Premium Accounting. Does it include software to convert over? Is it relatively seamless? Would anyone recommend installing 2005 on a different PC than the one where PCA is already on? Is it possible to run dual systems on the same PC? Is Quickbooks a better alternative? Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks!

The conversion is not seemless. It only brings over balances and you will need to tweak payroll a little if you use it. Which modules do you use in PCA?
Quickbooks does not compare for higher accounting functions, inventory use or assembly use.

I use dual verson 6 and Premium in one computer. When install, I put it in the different fold.

After I converted from PCA V11 to Peachtree 2003, my PDQ reports would no longer work in V11 when I tried to access old data.
If I had to do to it over again I would just enter the data in the Windows version manually rather than convert. Obviously this may not be possible if you are a larger company or have many inventory items, customers, etc.
That being said, even after using the conversion utility, I still had to go through every employee, customer, vender, and inventory item and make corrections where fields don't end up in the right place.
Also, you have to write all of your payroll formulas unless you have very basic payroll deductions, and enter in all your beginning balances in every module.
Once you have everything in place, it is much easier to use than the DOS version, but some features are different.

I always recommend using the tax service so that you always get the updated tables and forms. Yeah you can input your own but you need to stay on top of all fed and state changes as well as you will have to customize forms if the forms change (like the w-2 a few years back and the 941 for 2005).
