New Company Data File Location

I have PT Complete V 8.0. We have our data files for our main comany on a server at the office. I want to set up another company (side business) with the data files on my laptop, so they can be used away from the office. No need for this new comapny data to be shared. Can I do this? How? The New Company "wizard" did not allow me to specify the data file pathname. Any help is appreciated.

First of all, install Peachtree on your laptop with all paths to the local drive ( not the network drive ), such as c:\peachw. If you like to, you can just copy the Peachtree files from the network to c:\peachw of your laptop. Or create a new company directly from your laptop. Actually, the default company path is governed by a ini file located in your local station like c:\windows or c:\winnt named PCW80.ini, check for the item datapath.

Structure of Peachtree files:

[PEACHTREE FOLDER]
...share files...
[COMPANY A]
.... data of company A
[COMPANY B]
.... data of company B
