We are a small company and have been using Complete Accounting 2002 Release 9 since it came out. As time has gone on, we have found that entering orders and printing them causes a longer and longer wait time for the orders to be saved. Two to five minutes generally.
Because we use a network, the problem is particularly poignant when two people try to access similar files - such as looking up an old invoice or maintaining inventory items. Nothing can be done while the file is being saved.
I did that grand total count and it came out to about 25,000 or so.
We had purged the system a few months ago which seems to have sped up the calling up of inventory but the order imput process keeps dragging.
Anyone have any solution? This is really hurting us.
Thanks.
Steve

What is your file size? Look under "Help"/"File Statistics".
Did you purge vendor and customer files along with the inventory records? I'd try purging again.

Purging has consistently locked the system up (we let it work overnight and the next morning it looked as if nothing were done). We had someone come in to manually delete files. The inventory capability sped up but the invoicing got slower and slower. We deleted all old customer files (very few vendors) a few months ago.

Steve,
We've been using PT for about 15 years and are currently using version 2002 also. I don't think your file size sounds too bad although I'm not an expert on it.
I've seen other posts concerning speed issues (try some searches to see if you can locate the threads).
Have there been any changes made to your machines or to the network that may be causing the slowdown? Are other programs also slower?
If purging is not working correctly you may have a data corruption problem.
I have found over the years that Windows will become slower over the years and requires a clean reinstall ever 2 years at least.
You may need to consider a clean install of Peachtree with a company rebuild also.
I hope someone else may have a better idea for you.
LOL
your file size is not big 25 MB is small
Your problem is your network-- Not peachtree
Peachtree runs on top of the network
Ifi you take an new car down a dirt road it is going to shake rattle and Roll.
Doing a new Peachtree install to the same location will not help.
What is your setup
2 computers and a server????
Do a BU
Uninstall peachtree off of all computers
Reboot
load peactree program on one computer ----restore BU and watch how fast it goes.
Now on the the Second computer map a drive to the computer C:\drive where you have peachtree DATA located
Load the program on the2nd computer pointing the DP to the directory PEACHW folder of the first computer.
all should be ok ---unless you have networking Problems
If so then change your NIC CARDS and check your wiring.
This is a network issue most likely
