I am new to this group and need some help before I start converting some DacEasy companies into PAW accountant version 2006. My issue is with job costing, since DacEasy no longer offers the Job Manager/Costing module as of their version 13. I am using DacEasy vers 11 and 13, my DEA cleints with job costing remain in ver 11 and those without JC are in ver 13.

During this tax season I showed all my DEA clients both PAW and QuickBooks sample companies to help us decide if they wanted to convert to either one. Only my DEA job cost wanted to change and this is only due to the sunset of DEA payroll for ver 11.

PAW ver 2006 now has (I am so, so happy) convertion utility for DEA but the manual for this utility leaves me some questions not answered. So my question is:

Can I even convert DEA ver 11.....no mention of DEA ver #'s in the manual.

Release 2006 provides for the conversion of Version 11-13 of DacEasy.

Be careful. Peachtree Accounting Windows or PAW is a single user program and allows for Job Tracking only. Peachtree Complete Accounting Windows or PCW is available in single or multi-user flavors. It also provides Job Costing with Phases, Cost Codes and extensive reporting vs Job Tracking and very limited reporting.

Thanks guys..I figured it out. I do have the PT 2006 Prem accounts version...so no problem on JC. I really do not like this program compared the DacEasy but I guess I will have to make it work.

Give it time. We are creatures of habit - we like what we are used to using. In all the years I've been in business, not one of my clients came back to me and said converting to Peachtree for Windows was a mistake, but most of them thought so during the first few weeks of using it. In the end...they all said they wish they had done it much earlier!

Be very carefull converting from DEA to Peachtree, Our company did and we have 1000 items in inventory, Peach doesn't work very well with selling items in units like DEA did, you will have to
convert each item manually, sample = I sell a case of soda of 24 cans for $10.00 on Dac easy you just go to Product and put 24
in the Purchasing and selling field and that is it, in Peachtree we have to set this item as EACH and them 24 units and then adjust
the beg balance of 100 cs to 2400 units @ .30 cents if my cost is
$7.00 case and the selling price will be $ 0.42, when you do an invoice you will have to choose to sell by units or case, This should be done before you enter any purchases or invoices.
Report wise Peach has a lot more reports and is a better program overall, of course DEA stop improving their software about 3 years ago. WE use Peach Manufacturing 2006.
Also note Peach won't import details for your A/R or A/P and Invoices.

romerotax:

It would appear that you may have the wrong version of Peachtree based on your description. Peachtree Premium Distribution provides Inventory unit of measure converion (Buy-Stock - Sell in different units of measure).

Yes it does, but if you look at Inventory of say 100 cs of soda of 24 cans cost $ 10.00 the product screen will show the following
2400 units , $ 1,000.00 if I'm selling the case of soda at $ 16.00
the price on the screen will be $ 0.67 " $ 16/24units.

In Dac Easy the same screen will show 100cs , $ 1,000.00
$ 16.00 selling price.

Another sample this item on the product screen I set it up as each
then I go into the next screen and pick how many units per case
say 24, then I also have to put the upc number , because if you put it only on the product screen it won't print on the Invoice.

I hope this is the correct way to set up the product as per Peachtree support. NOw if I buy 1,000 cs I have I have 24,000 units, which I have to teach myself to remember this are not cases

You could setup an assembly to convert units of sodas back to cases. This way you would have two inventory items, one stocking unit of measure being "each" and the second stocking unit of measure being "case".
