I've been using Peach since 1997. I upgraded to Peach 2005 in Dec 04. Since then I seem to be corrupting data more and more often, usually a journal header file.

Today's crisis is an error message saying "error reading general file for module 4". This occurred during normal use with 3 people logged into the system. One was in sales orders, one was in invoicing, one was running Gl and payroll reports.

We're running MS Small Business Server and w2000 work stations. We had been running Peach 2003 uneventfully for the last few years.

Can this be anything we're doing wrong???

Check and disable Write Caching on local hard drives and server / host drives. Check the FILE setting value in the CONFIG.NT file located in the C:\Windows\System32 or C:\Winnt\System32 folder. The value on the workstation should read FILES=199 vs. the default value of 40 and on the Server or Host Computer the value should be 250. Following that, check for a potentially bad network card or out of date network card driver.

These type of problems are not a factor of Peachtree but more so computer hardware, power related problems and Windows environment settings. The host of the website offers data repair for the errors that you have describe, but again, Peachtree is the recipient of the problem and not the source of the problem. Check your hardware and UPS (defective batteries etc.) for the source of the repeated data corruption.
