well, as I stated earlier, the salesman told me when I purchased PTP06 that it came with the functionality to do remote access. I told him I didn't have Pro. He said that I didn't have to. Well, now I have used up my 1 free "Complimentary Call" to PT with another issue regarding the install and now I can't get an answer for this without paying the $200 for support. That is ridiculous. They should at least support their product for free until it is operating as promised as sales time.....

If you search this forum you will find there are several ways to do remote access with Peachtree. 2006 is compatable with terminal services and WinXP Pro Remote Access. You can also use GoToMy PC on the internet or other softwares that allow remote access.

I'm not running XP Pro - does Terminal Services require Pro? As for the other options, GoToMyPc, etc., I am trying to get something that won't cost me a monthly fee.
Thanks!

Just do a search on "remote access" on the internet and you should find several solutions. VNC is a free software that operates similar to PC Anywhere which is not free.

I use RealVNC for remote access. Peachtree 2004 & 2006 works very well this way. I use this method to update report designs remotely without interrupting the flow on the host machine. It works great either locally in my office over the network as well as remotely over a VPN. Setting up a VPN is a little challenging, but done correctly, it has lots of uses.

RealVNC is free and is not tied to a specific operating system.

If you decide you need xp pro - you can froogle it and find it (full version not upgrade) for less than $100.

I actually tried the VNC and had so many problems I gave up. I did manage to get a connection once between my laptop and the computer which were sitting side by side, but I had to "invite" myself from the host and that jsut won't work for me. I plan to be home at night and want to access the computer at work when no one is there to invite me.
I am usually very application literate, but I had some real problems with the instructions on RealVnc. If someone can direct me to some better help I would be grateful. Don't know if it matters (don't imagine that it does) but the host computer that I want to access is on a peer-to-peer network.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I Disagree that 06 is cpmpatible with XPpro Terminal Services.
PREMIUM is compatible (quite dissapointed to find out afetr the upgrade) VNC was a simple solution.

I tried our termial server and it was too unstable. I subscribed to Gotomypc and I love it. I now work from anywhere there is a computer and it is exactly like I am at my own desk in the office. I have had no problems using it and they have great customer support. Our IS person just subscribed to work from home during maternity leave. Look into it Gotomypc.com
