Phases & Cost Codes

In a manufacturing setting do you use Phases the same as shop routers (saw, drill, weld) and Cost Codes the same as splitting your time between (set up and run) for each Phase. Or am I completely off base as what Phases and Cost Codes are.

Using the method you propose would work fine if you want to see something like this:

Setup 2.0 hrs 62.00
Run 3.1 hrs 74.00
Total Drill 5.1 hrs $136.00

Saw
Setup 1.5 hr 47.00
Run 2.1 hr 83.00
Total Saw 3.6 hr $130.00

Weld
Setup 1.0 hr 25.00
Run 6.1 hr 271.00
Total Weld 16.1 hr $296.00

Total JOB # 123 $562.00

in our manufacturing company, we use cost and phase codes as

phase- Assembly

Cost - Labor, materials, etc.
